Think of staking more like a vote of trust. Your funds will never leave your wallet. You pledge a vote of trust of a certain value to a Stake Pool, meaning you trust that stake pool efficiency to mint blocks. As a reward for your trust, that stake pool will share the income generated by the transactions with it's delegators - you!
If you're using Daedalus/Yoroi wallet you can delegate directly in your wallet site. With few clicks, find our Stake Pool using the ticker 'PACT' and delegate as much as you would like.
At each epoch (every 5 days) you will receive the rewards generated by the stake pool. And that's it! no 'ifs' no 'buts'! The hability of the pool to generate blocks will depend on technology used and delegation. ROA for delegation is around 5%/year. You can follow the pool's performance here.
